On Wednesday 5 June 2019, Economic Development Board Mauritius (EDB Mauritius) and UNIDO ITPO Tokyo organised “Seminar on Investment and Business Opportunities in Mauritius” in Tokyo. It was co-organised by Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO).
The seminar featured the latest business environment and opportunities in Mauritius, and attracted nearly 100 businesspeople.
Following the opening remarks by Dr. Yuko Yasunaga, Head of UNIDO ITPO Tokyo, Mr. Arvind Radhakrishna, Head of the Global Outreach Strategic Business Unit and Mr. Radhakrishna Neelayya, Market Development Manager gave presentations. They emphasised various advantages as a regional hub for investments to Africa including its strategic location, taxation, financial system, infrastructure and logistics, and presented new investment project opportunities in Mauritius. Then Dr. Keiichiro Komatsu, Principal of Komatsu Research & Advisory (KRA) explained the geopolitical importance of Mauritius; an Indian Ocean Rim Economic Zone to connect the Asia-Pacific to the Middle East and Africa and he stressed that Mauritius is an attractive gateway to start business in Africa.
The seminar was closed by Dr. Katsumi Hirano, Executive Vice-President of JETRO, and the participants and speakers continued active interaction in a networking session.
